Glad you're interested in our Yiddish lessons!

Some important points:

1. To get the most out of the course, we recommend repeating the audio and pronouncing new words a few times, until you really have a feel for them.
2. With the schmoozes, after going through them at least once or twice with comprehension, it's recommended to try role-playing with them. Play the audio of one character, Shmerl for instance, and read Berl's response yourself. Then try the other character. The more the repetition, and the more interactive make it, the better your retention will be.
3. We transliterate all of the Yiddish using YIVO standardized transliteration. It might be new to you... take a look at reading resources to learn how to read and pronounce it. You may decide to learn how to read Yiddish characters (alef-beyz). We highly recommend! The tools are all there, and each word we introduce has Hebrew characters, YIVO transliteration, and audio, so if you decide to learn to read you'll be constantly supported along the way.
4. The paragraphs are your opportunity to work through the text yourself - to apply what you already know, and to learn new words in context. We give away everything in a spoiler at the end, but we highly recommend working hard to get there.
5. We recommend printing out all the written exercises (especially the paragraphs) to make sure you actually do them! We now have a pdf file link to each exercise under the "Lesson Media" heading for course subscribers. (You need to press the "Take Course" button to access them.) For the free lessons we've provided a print button... only the text will print out, in black and white, and it gives the option to delete images.
